In the case of a club hair, the hair follicle holding the strand becomes dormant and shrinks, which cuts off blood flow to the club hair. Without blood flow, the club hair can no longer grow, although it will remain attached to the follicle for up to three or four months.

Rogaine does work to some extent, as evidenced by clinical studies. But this is only for certain types of baldness (and only if it's used continuously). That said, it won't work for everyone. For those it does benefit, Rogaine will likely not help recover all the hair you lose.

Do hair grafts last? ›

Approximately three months later (90 to 100 days), new hair starts to grow and continues to grow at a normal rate. About six months after a hair transplant session, the transplanted hairs begin to take on a natural appearance and will continue to grow for a lifetime.

Older Patients

Contrary to popular belief, there is no upper age limit when it comes to hair transplant procedures. Nobody is too old to undergo a hair transplant, as long as they are in good health and have enough viable donor hair follicles.

If there are not enough hair follicles on the nape or if the hair is too thin, there may be no donor site to draw hairs from. If the patient has chronic telogen effluvium or alopecia areata, they are also unlikely to be recommended hair transplants.

Generally speaking, the following reasons would make someone NOT a candidate for surgery: younger than age 25, various medical reasons/conditions, type of thinning (diffuse rather than pattern alopecia), lack of hair in donor area (this is the most common disqualifying reason that we see) and most importantly, ...

All hair systems we say can last on average 3-6 months. You can get longer, however a rule of thumb is 3-6 months and expect to replace the piece 2-3 times a year. The duration on how long a system lasts can also be affected by how you take care of it and using the recommended products.
